"Chantilly is a large suburban school with many of the benefits, and drawbacks, of a school with 2,800+ students. It is divided into 5 sub-schools, each with its own assistant principal, which helps to make the relationships with guidance counselors and administrators more personal. But the schedule has been tweaked in recent years with so-called "learning seminars" which are disruptive and unnecessary. Originally intended to be used for remediation, LS has become a distraction that takes aware valuable classroom learning time. Chantilly has also discontinued many of its honors classes for 9th and 10th graders, leaving AP as the only alternative to the general education classes. Many parents feel these kids are too young for college-level classes and are dissatisfied with the lack of challenging choices."
