"Johnstown staff tries very hard to live down the small town school image. This school system is struggling to stay in good shape financially, due to, primarily, failure to obtain levy support or support from the state. Johnstown school board faces a lot of hostility and criticism from the community because of their requests for more money for the schools; as a result they are not totally receptive to community input; however, my feeling is the money is legitimately needed. Extracurricular programs have always been excellent; again, however, facing challenges due to growth and financial support. However, it is a small school which gives it a distinct advantage in being able to provide personalized attention for each student. We moved to Johnstown from a larger district and feel our children have all benefited immensely from attending school here. (We had one more child who attended and recently graduated)."
